Sewing a shirt (using the same pattern, for the third time) after tailoring a jacket, and realize that the Butterick shirt pattern I was using SKIPS explaining a bunch of things. Now that I have gone in-depth on a more difficult project, I see that they infer things they assume you know, but to a newbie (i.e., ME) you'd never know you're skipping something. I suspected as much as I struggled through that shirt the first time through (with lots of help from sewists here). An example is it has no mention of basting in order to adjust the easing of two uneven sleeve pieces, it just says "BASTE". #sewing
