@pete I once asked the bike shop to change the pedals on a bike. Which was thirty-something years old, and still had the original pedals.
"You won't *believe* how much trouble we had getting the old ones off!" they said when I picked up the bike.
"Yes I would," I said, "why do you think I paid you to do it rather than trying it myself?"
