I'm looking for examples of platforms where privileges or memberships of users expire after a term or some inactivity threshold. I'm thinking it could be a useful feature to have in forge platforms (like #forgejo, #gitlab or #github) and seek design inspiration. Any ideas? @douginamug @ntnsndr

@douginamug @ntnsndr in #MediaWiki (#Wikipedia) there is some of that, for instance after getting inactive on some wikis my "IP block exempt" permission got revoked automatically. I also got a fantastic notice on my talk page mentioning that my rights to use #AutoWikiBrowser would get revoked if I continue to be inactive. Really great messaging, but that's not part of the platform itself. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Pintoch#Your_access_to_AWB_may_be_temporarily_removed)

@douginamug we have automatic group removal based on inactivity

this was in response to https://foodsharing.de where a person has to do in manually, which has lots of dynamics...

(our one can still be gamed, just visiting the site to stay in the group, but not actually doing anything, it has been requested it would look at actual signups to doing stuff to check "activity level")

I like composting metaphors here, let things cycle...
