This is really nice and something we haven't seen on any other social media platforms. Elsewhere, you can just quote someone without asking, but in the Fediverse, you need permission, and you can actually control who quotes you without having to delete your post.

It feels great to be part of something truly unprecedented.

@rolle this is nice and all. But I still see people talking to themselves mentioning others with weird post privacy settings and I haven't yet figured out why. So I started following people only to see an answer to someone I was actually interested in following. I suspect this Access Control List is going to introduce further usability issues: you see some quoting from some user that you maybe follow, but the n you cannot see because the cross-product of another privacy setting vector.

UX hell.

@rolle This is smart. I'm glad they implemented it this way. I was not 100% on board with quote posts here, even though I know I'd use them, because I remember how that feature was abused on X. 95% of the time I saw quote posts, the intention was to humiliate and direct harassment at someone.

Kind of nice to have product design that isn't guided by "how can we engineer as much conflict as possible"
