I read that UK Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner has purchased a seaside apartment in Hove. This is the third property she owns. I don't understand why this is acceptable. If people stopped buying more than one home, wouldn't it be much easier for everyone to be able to find property to live in? Why does anyone need more than one house?

@urlyman Thanks Jonathan. It feel angry and at the same time very sad. So many communities across these islands struggle because they are filled with empty housing while local kids and those on low incomes doing essential work have to move away as can't afford to live there any more. Why do we put up with it?

@urlyman The press would have us believe that socialism is a dirty word. It why safe spaces such as here on Mastodon are so important. Having said that I don't know how we have our voices heard in a bigger space over the monstrous drumbeat about immigration, attacks on the disabled, on pensioners and on those in poverty, while under the covers it about more and more for those with plenty,

@urlyman Ahh trees, the most socialist of species. In a forest, they share water and nutrients through their roots to support ill or younger neighbours and improve their health and help defend other trees against pests and disease.
