The cybersecurity wrecking ball is turning to VPNs ‼️

It's dangerous to attack a tool that can help to keep adults and children safe online.

Age-gating this tech for UK users would increase cybercrime and put under 18s at a greater risk of predators.

@openrightsgroup but of course all about control. Sorry but if children want to exercise their own choice....? Surely that is their own problem, or not. They have parents. We must stop making everything a problem of a nanny state and ISPs.

So the answer to protect children and users is to ban vpns? Last time I checked, vpns kept you safe... So to keep someone safe, your plan is to take the safety away??? 🤔 not even a new born baby would come up with such a stupid idea. While the world slowly gets banned, military and government dont get a VPN ban 🤔 hmm, now ain't that something? I control my data and I make the best choices for myself and my data. I dont need a corrupt government who can loose £22 billion pounds!

@openrightsgroup Surely, if a parent pays for a VPN, then wouldn't the credit card payment be sufficient proof of age? If that parent then allows their kids onto the VPN, isn't it the parent who is being neglectful? Why are politicians not targeting parents who fail to supervise their kids?¹ 🤔

All they really had to do was make it a criminal offence to supply children with smart phones.
If children access dodgy stuff on a computer in the home, that is solely down to poor parenting. Parents should be exercising discipline and supervision in the home not giving kids a computer or phone as a substitute carer.
