Wow. It seems really early for the cottonwoods to be changing colors. Maybe I just never noticed? Or maybe this is another "new normal" from global warming?

Anyone else in #Denver know what's typical?

Ok so it is abnormal and people are noticing it across Colorado. The leaves are changing early due to the drought.

Last winter's inadequate snowpack plus this summer's scorching dry weather means trees drank up the available water early, triggering that leaf change already.

Also, the colors we're getting aren't as vibrant.

One contributor to that vibrancy is sunny days and cool nights.

It's instead a paler yellow, which adds to the sadness of it all
