So far, I’m not SUPER impressed with Apple’s new method of letting us measure and record blood oxygen with Apple Watch and the Health app on iPhone.

#AppleWatch

Alert on iPhone in Health app right after I measured my blood 02 on Apple Watch that says: “Blood Oxygen : This recording could not be analyzed by the Health app.”

@podfeet I have mine now showing one data point, which is right I guess. Not terribly useful to have to dig for the data on your phone. I suppose not displaying it in the watch is a way around the patent. Paying Masimo off would be another.

@Scott Yeah, at least we have it back. I waited a couple more hours and now I finally got a data point. Hazzah!

@podfeet @barryjsullivan To jump-start the download, users can open the Health app on their iPhone, and the ECG app on their Apple Watch.

@podfeet @barryjsullivan from Gruber’s post:

Important, and not clear at all from Apple’s initial announcement this morning: After the iOS 18.6.1 and WatchOS 11.6.1 software updates, the iPhone and Apple Watch need to download an over-the-air asset to enable the redesigned Blood Oxygen feature. This apparently may take up to 24 hours. Until this asset download happens, the Blood Oxygen app on your Apple Watch will still say “The Blood Oxygen app is no longer available”.
