Trying Tribblix tonight, a Solaris 10-inspired Illumos distribution: http://tribblix.org/

First little hurdle was the libvirt disk not supported, switching to virtual SATA disk fixed that.

Loved the installation process. Pretty much: "Formatting, copying root filesystem. Want a receipt?"

Well it's running. Familiar Unix desktop, what can I say.

Had to change the resolution back to 1024x768 because X11 was scrolling the viewport. Tried QXL and virtio, same for both. But 1024x768 is fine.

Network is a bigger issue, virtio-net nor e1000 get me a working network interface.

Dunno what it was with the networking earlier but e1000 did work. Success! 🥳 #pkgsrc

Unsure how I feel about the “zap” tool. It combines a bunch of different things into one tool, overlaps with existing commands (like useradd), and has an unstructured “help” command instead of man pages
