"It’s been a slower start than I’d hoped for but we are making a bit of progress. I’m going to take the long view that a slow start is better than no start and if I keep at it, it will grow. Here’s a progress report..."

@dennyhenke I can understand wanting to use “GNU+Linux” for personal “correctness” reasons (though I may personally disagree), but it’s important to recognize that this kind of language - names that include special characters - feels technically jargon-y and will dissuade potential users on the basis of, “this seems too complicated.” That, and saying “GNU+Linux Mint” is wrong, as the Mint project is branded specifically as “Linux Mint,” which is far more linguistically welcoming.
@moshimotsu
Thanks for the thoughts but we'll have to disagree. The name of the operating system is GNU/Linux or GNU+Linux and I don't think it's that complicated. We live in a fairly complex world and if someone is capable of using a computer over a smart phone I'll assume they are capable of handling the extra characters.

Beyond that, anyone that I work with personally will get at least a brief explanation/overview as to what they are using as well as an open offer to always learn more.
