@dagb I know EVs emit a smaller volume of GHGs over their lifetime than ICE ones. It’s my understanding that 2 tonnes of coal burned to make an average of 1.4 tonnes of metal in a European car ends up as roughly twice that in GHGs in the atmosphere.

There are about 1.5 billion cars in the world, replaced every decade or so.

We should face the predicament as it is, not merely to suit conveniences we’ve told ourselves we can ‘afford’ while failing spectacularly to reduce global emissions
