For what I know, a server use computational resources ONLY when receiving and transmitting emails, or when the user search them in order to delete. Not when emails are stored, this involve only storage space.
A data center use computational resources(and thus water for cooling) only when scanning emails/images/video in order to process them (AI training, police/intelligence scanning.
So the suggestion could become completely counterproductive.
