Was all the time there and was crying always the loudest so that even reasonable people got disoriented in the climate discourse up until they decided to take time to investigate.

@dangillmor I just channeled George Washington. He wants to know who’s prepared to play his part. And if everyone’s onboard and saddled up.

Asked by CNN why previous editions of the National Climate Assessment were no longer available online, former fracking company CEO Wright responded: "Because we're reviewing them, and we will come out with updated reports on those."

First published in 2000, the National Climate Assessment has long been viewed as a cornerstone of the US government's understanding of climate science, synthesizing input from federal agencies and hundreds of external experts.

I am entertained by the "racing to save climate data" arguments I see on social media when it's already been saved.

https://openclimate.org/u-s-national-climate-assessments-complete/

They've been copying this data six ways to Sunday for forever.

Academic papers referencing these reports need to note the original dates. Nothing from 2025 till "we'll see" will be worth quoting.

@dangillmor On this Sunday, my greatest disgust is reserved for those who endorse Trump and his ilk for validating hatred and greed as religion. Yes, blind religion is a big part of the problem. “Blessed are those who don’t believe, yet see.” - Richard Powers

@dangillmor What I fear most is the influence this authoritarian regime has on thinking in the rest of the world through social media and financial investments. They have been trying to influence elections in the EU for years.

And with the "Big Beautiful Bill" + photos, the narrative of Big Brother exists already.

We need more Guy Montags (Fahrenheit 451) and Sam Lowrys (Terry Gilliam's film Brazil) - we need a broad resistance of knowledge and facts.

Photomontage of Big Brother's face from Michal Radford's film 1984 in the lower half and Trump's eyes from his official presidential portrait in the upper half. The self-staging and lighting speak volumes – both fit together perfectly.

@dangillmor They seem to be irritated by the constant stream of record-setting summer heat. Several years ago I noted that each of the last summers for 8 years had been a record breaker. Every summer since then has also been a record breaker. We are well past ten record breakers in a row. It's a visceral statistic that illustrates the climate crisis, no wonder they want it to go I to the memory hole.

@dangillmor The thing is, all it does is make the US pointless in the area.

It is like Trumps cheating at Golf. He cheats. Everyone knows it. Nobody believes he is the best player in the clubs he owns.Except himself, who is stupid enough to believe his own publicity.

So he doesn't improve his game. He probably doesn't even enjoy it. It is a pointless excuse to not do any work.

US Climate data is like Trumps Golf scores: make believe.

The numbers are not in favor for truth!

Which numbers?

The numbers of lies that can be produced in a short amount of time ( now with the help of #ai even shorter and sounding nice ) versus the effort to prove they are lies.

They are flooding the space with shit - as proposed by #stevebannon .

We cannot counter that playing according to their rules. Maybe we can identify and promote "circles of trust" and teach people to ignore the shit?

I suspect that Ayn Rand would have been in the climate denial camp. All the same:

"We can evade reality, but we cannot evade the consequences of evading reality."

As much as I dislike her teachings, I have to admit that it is a good way to put it.

MAGA billionaires requires that Texans ignore the connection between Greg Abbott's public corruption with the oil industry AND climate change flash floods that drowns children.

There's nothing normal about summers with heat domes, wildfires, and floods.
