You have to suspend disbelief a bit because Denmark isn't actually that low-lying. Even with 2m of sea level rise the vast majority of the country is well above water (though not coastal cities like Copenhagen)
But, a useful storytelling exercise. Help the wealthy western white people imagine themselves as the refugees for once, so they can empathize with the millions of people who really will be displaced in Mumbai and Bangkok.
Apparently I am just binging the whole miniseries. It's surprisingly good!
The way they portray people with guns is jarringly different from US film, where it's just kinda taken for granted as the backdrop.
Also the way they take for granted having a functional government that actively manages everyone resettling somewhere else. On it's current track the US will just leave people to fend for themselves.
IThey assume 8 year olds can speak English, and English is the "screaming at the foreigners" language. Teenage sex without it being an epic or shameful plot point. Tables have turned, with Eastern Europe now the destination for Danish & Dutch migrants as the West denies them visas & residency.
Meanwhile the elites are setting up shell companies to offer themselves jobs so they can qualify for residency in their country of choice. They can't imagine stooping to the public resettlement option and ending up in Bucharest or Warsaw.
Also my god are they actually going to punish the rich guy who worked for the government and did an insider trading? What kind of country is this?!
The number of times people have been told not to use their phones in this show is large. And the number of times they have actually refrained from using their phones is zeeeero. Which does seem to reflect reality.
But then I'm not exactly expert on what people think.
