Boo Ramsey 👻 🎃

I’ve never attended #AllThingsOpen. Every year, I somehow miss it, but this year, I remembered, so I just looked it up, and judging from the speaker list, it feels overly corporate to me. Has it always been that way?

Is there a conference out there that’s by the open source community, for the open source community?

The aforementioned conference appears to be targeted to companies who consume open source and want to discuss AI and The Supply Chain.

@ramsey @FrOSCon might be something of interest. They usually even have a specific PHP-room...

@heiglandreas @FrOSCon Making it to the “free” conferences in Europe is going to be tough for me, but I’ll look into what it will cost and see if my employer might be able to send me.

@ramsey You asked for conferences by the OSS community for the OSS community 😁

The money - especially for speakers - is then definitely a topic 🙈

Would love to see you on this side of the pond!

@ramsey here in Europe most of the conferences I knew are gone. All are now organized by companies. And as a former member of a conference organization I get that. Organizing an event for 100-400 people is a day job. During the year.
Reason we stopped? It just took too much of our time. But I still miss it. #pfcongres

@ramsey : FOSSY may be what you're after?

It's already passed this year, but here's a sample from the schedule:

@boats FOSDEM has been on my radar for a long time, and I’d love to make it one day. I should have specified “in North America.” 😅
