“Magazine” by @jeffjarvis is the fascinating story of the origin, rise, fall, and possible future of the magazine industry, as told by a magazine super fan who started Entertainment Weekly.

I recommend the 3.5 hour audio version read by the author. It’s included in US-based Spotify subscriptions.

I was a precocious reader and loved magazines more than books as a kid. I looked forward to getting Highlights and Boys’ Life in the mail, addressed to me. I spent most of my weekly library time with National Geographic instead of Dr Suess. I binged years of Better Homes and Gardens at my grandparents’ one summer. I got thru Reader’s Digest one poo at a time, just like my father. I spent my 11th birthday money on subscriptions to Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, and PC World.
