If you want to understand what threatens power - and particularly the power of capital - look at everything that NatACT First are repealing in their first term. Particularly things like the wellbeing reporting requirements in the Public Finance Act. These are the things we need to demand the next government go much further on, in ways that are much harder to reverse.

What about laws against corruption? Laws against the election rigging NatACT First are engaged in right now, for a start. But also robust regulation of political donations, campaign finance, lobbying, etc.
If you're saying we need a written constitution, sure, I'm on board. But that opens several new cans of worms. It's not a quick fix, and arguably NatACT First is a reaction to early work towards it.
We already have laws against corruption.
But NactFirst are flaunting them.
Who's rapping them over the knuckles and/or putting Shane Jones in gaol for having a delicious fish dinner and a $10,000 donation and then magically getting legislation passed or approvals fast tracked?
@futuresprog Fair point. Did you have a conclusion on how to proceed? In contrast to the suggestion of having better anti-corruption laws, and empowering prosecutors and courts to enforce them, especially on the government of the day. I'm open to any and ideas that don't involve killing and eating the rich (tempting as it may be).
@futuresprog @strypey There's also the question of what'll replace NCEA. Education is the long-term strategy. The history curriculum reforms are an early move on this front.
Alas, it was Clark and Lange who dealt the heaviest blows in my lifetime. Both of them will forever be scum in my mind because of Tomorrow's Schools, the repurposing of the universities, and then the student loans lies. This is how you build the future generations of voters and, just as importantly, non-voters.
