#AltText:  In the photo, a small hawk that looks very unlike any adult hawk I know of, looks down on me from atop a short pole.  Its sharp black claws and hooked beak are pointing at us.  Its breast is mottled and there is no evidence of the red shoulders that will eventually make its species apparent.  This photo was taken before I got my telephoto lens.  Perhaps that was a good thing.  It's too close to focus a telephoto on here.

I have it on good authority that this is a juvenile red-shouldered hawk.
