I think there's this unspoken idea that black people do not exist here, or that we would not find the concept of the #fediverse to be appealing. This is inherently just- wrong.
There's very much a whiteness problem here. A lot of purity culture in leftist politics. Like damn- y'all actually do not know how to get a lil nasty while still remaining civil. And it shows tbh.
Like I always try to post to #blackfedi and it feels like yelling into the void ahaha. But I do not blame black people for-

The reason there likely aren't a lot of black people here in my eyes is that a lot of y'all don't actually act in community with black people. You have your token black friend and just assume you are immune from #racism and white supremacy.
Don't get it twisted now-
The fedi is honestly an amazing way for black creators, artists, builders, healers to show all the beauty this mere realm of existence has to offer.
But a lot of these people are just trying to get by. You'll only ever see them in your feeds when its a #mutualaid post or when they are being dogpilled by some racist dweebs.
This is NOT OKAY. And telling black people and indigenous folk to just "run your own instances" while not actively helping them do so is just classist as fuck. Do better.
And so y'all do NOT misconstrued me, understand that I am firstly an African black person whose existence is experienced through a trans lense. So while I don't give two honest craps about most uspol- I don't like to see my people hurting.
I barely interact with white people on a day to day basis outside, and its honestly a blessing. Because while my people can be conservative at times, I have honestly experienced some of the most disgusting transphobia from white queers who can NEVER understa-
And like yeah, we can be all hugs kisses on the fedi and stand for the same causes- but until you put that white supremacist thinking out the way. Black people will NOT call this home. And you need black people for any meaningful impact.
I spent most of my life just lurking online. Because I never felt comfortable being perceived by the world. Yet I actively post here. Because to me, the #blackfedi is something I dream of bigggg. The #fedi is small, it helps ease the anxiety-
