@marcoarment 100% agree. This makes me laugh in my head if Steve Jobs was revived and was able to get control of Apple back how many people he would fire over this past decade of Apple blunders.

@marcoarment then we’d have talked bout how they’re behind on Ai, the new thing they haven’t proved they could do… Instead we’re talking about how they fail at design, the one thing they’re supposed to be world leading at.
@marcoarment I seem to recall Microsoft introducing a glass-like look called "Aero" with Windows Vista. It went away again not long thereafter. Can't think why!

@marcoarment it's irredeemable, and another year of making everything harder to look at and use wouldn't fix anything. The developers I patronize will be the ones who resist this garbage whole cloth.
@marcoarment You are giving Apple too much credit for thinking that far ahead. They had to come up with something new and interesting for #WWDC as to have everyone forget the disaster that is #AppleAI

@marcoarment they should have just never done it. It’s not at all “visionOS” inspired. Luckily visionOS is largely unchanged and not hit by this nonsense. I just can’t believe it. First they totally screw up “AI” and now this redesign which is entirely a problem of their own making. Two major failures back to back.

@marcoarment At this point, I’m considering delaying my iPhone replacement this fall so that I don’t get forced into this mess. I bet I’m not alone. This could really hurt their fall launch.
The good news is that if this does go really badly, that could be it for Alan Dye.
@marcoarment on desktop it is kind of just awful. I know it will get better, but I don’t really see a vision for how it is supposed to work on MacOS
@marcoarment I know this is kind of your job, but thanks for taking the hits for us. I am not even remotely tempted to download the beta of this thing. Starting to wonder if this whole "Liquid Glass" thing was rushed to distract from the lack of AI progress and they really had not much of an IOS 19 to release. Except for chips Apple has really entered the wilderness years.
@marcoarment it just shows glass is fundamentally flawed as a UI element. Tone down the transparency and the desired effect is gone. Increase the transparency and now everything is unreadable.
@marcoarment it cannot be fixed. It’s a fundamentally flawed concept. Clear materials are used specifically to show what’s behind them, not what’s on them. It will have to be rolled back if it ever sees the light of day.

@marcoarment Considering such major overhaul happens once a decade – theoretically they had 10 years to prepare.
@marcoarment When Beta 1 came out, I thought “This is bad, but they have the summer to fix it.” But so far they haven’t. We are now in B4 and somehow, it’s actually getting worse. I only tolerate it on my iPad because the window upgrades are so good.
@marcoarment I'm questioning if they did *any* testing before it went into the system. Seeing this, apparently multi-year, project it's a miracle how they achieved iOS 7 in a matter of months. And Liquid Glass is just some touch up really.
