Maybe 6 weeks ago, my legs stopped holding me up reliably. It's symmetric, and it's unpredictable. Combined with existing balance issues, any one time I get up might be fine, or it might be the time I take a hard fall.
So I'm on a walker now. Every time. I use it to go from my lift chair in the living room to the bed. Or I can pivot from the bed to the older recliner in the bedroom. I can't go to the kitchen. Jalan tries to keep the mini fridge near my lift chair stocked, as well as a cabinet for the most commonly used meds.
I use portable urinals that we keep both chairside and bedside. If I need to poop, I test and see if I think I can make it to the bathroom (where we have grab bars) propping myself on walls and furniture. If not, I use the bedside commode and have leave it for Jalan to swap out the liner.
