Question for #immigration lawyers. Is the Otero Immigration Court in Chapparal #NewMexico operational? Are hearings held there? I thought it was, see https://www.justice.gov/eoir/otero-immigration-court , but the New Mexico Immigrant Law Center says on its website that there are no immigration courts in NM. Maybe that information is outdated?

@heidilifeldman I have not heard anything about them closing. A client of mine has court records from there from 2024. I don’t have anything more recent but I doubt they’ve stopped operating. Maybe call tomorrow — 575-824-8900 (from their EOIR page, which is still up).

I believe they only do detained cases though, so that could be what’s causing confusion.
