I was recently discussing about comedy and humor with my American friend. I find it hard to laugh at typical "intelligent" stand-up comedy. Everyday or political stories rarely make me laugh.

Instead, I crack up at stupid, mindless, childish, unconventional, absurd, twisted, and dark stuff. Finnish Studio Julmahuvi (“Studio Cruelty”), Leslie Nielsen, Uuno Turhapuro (a classic Finnish comedy character and antihero), and silly memes all get me laughing. It's even funnier when other people don’t get it. 🤣

I prefer old-fashioned hijinks like Pat & Mat, Buster Keaton, and Charlie Chaplin over the typical "when I went to a restaurant" type of jokes. I'm difficult and picky that way when it comes to humor.

Because I use my brainpower and intelligence in everyday programming, I like my comedy to be as low-level and simple as possible - when I laugh, I want to be an ameba.

So, for someone who likes stand-up comedians like Jim Jefferies, Jim Carrey, Seth Rogen, and Ismo Leikola, what would you recommend?

#Comedy#StandUp#Humor

A person lies down on a bed dying and says "Kevin, I'm dying". A person holds his hand over his mouth. She then continues to say, "Please stop beatboxing."

@rolle It might not be exactly what you are looking for, but I really like Dropout.tv's improvisational comedy series! They feature comedians with different styles.

Game Changer and Make Some Noise get the best laughs from me and are easiest to get into.

They have their own streaming service, but they have several full episodes and lots of short clips in Youtube.

@rolle Not a particular comedian, but have you watched Comedy Central's roasts? They're pretty low-brow, usually, plus you get a sampling of a wide variety of comics and their stylings.

@rolle Not too sure if he (topics) fits the criteria but I'd say give Lee Evans a go. He gives me a bit of Faulty Towers/John Cleese vibes but also being animated like Jim Carey.

@rolle I have no recommendations to give, as I don't really dabble with stand up, but here's a big 🙌 for mentioning Buster Keaton. He was the best 🧡

@rolle laughed out loud at the meme. So I guess I have the same kind of humour 😄 Maybe you would like Greg Davies, Daniel Sloss, Bill Burr, James Acaster?

An observation that I made years ago is that comedians are often a product of their culture and environment. So if you don’t like a certain comedian you’re best off looking at different cultures.

I can always recommend Randy Feltface (Australian). Below is a full show (on his official account) that is just chefs kiss.
