Just found an AMAZING mystery 2015 spreadsheet in my files: "Productivity Loss for Anything in the Universe," WITH citations.

I could not for the life of me figure out why I had this data. AND THEN I saw it: a sadly incomplete project with @kaythaney on the economic cost of mansplaining.

On one hand, I deeply regret never finishing this. OTOH, I did start my PhD dissertation that year, so that's something?

A bar chart from 2015 of the annual economic cost of different things in the universe, ranging from malnutrition (highest cost) to bathroom breaks and Facebook.

@natematias @kaythaney Could you share any sources you have handy on the malnutrition info? I’m doing some work re: AI and #FoodSecurity, arguing that if we care about productivity and “intelligence” we should be prioritizing making sure people get fed, and this feels supportive
