I didn’t choose this hunger.
It wasn’t weakness, or a wish to die.
Hunger was forced on us — used as a weapon by the occupation.
They chose to starve us on purpose,
denying us even the most basic needs,
until our stomachs were empty and our hearts heavy with pain.

No one should have to suffer like this.
