Now that there's a new #commodore, I hope they're able to hunt down the C64 on a chip that Radioshack was selling back in the height of the plug and play famiclone era and make it available to the public as an SBC.
There's absolutely no reason to want such a thing, but I'd give good money (more than $20!) for a steady supply.
But the company that they bought commodore from is only a few steps removed from the folks who had licensed it originally, and they might be able to track down the rights and get them in to production again.
It's absolutely a long shot, but reviving an old 8bit as a modern SBC is very much the space I want to be in.
What stake would nintendo possibly have in all of this.

But also, a C64 to NES converter, if such a thing were possible, would be fully legal in the same way that the Funny Playing FPGA based GBC (FPGBC) is fully legal.
