> Reddit introduces age verification in the UK ahead of new rules

Expect a fair few social sites to introduce age assurance for some content - or block people from the UK - ahead of the UK's #OnlineSafetyAct deadline of 25 July.

@neil I don't see this law lasting long and am already seeing shock and backlash to this.

@neil Do you know, have Ofcom said what they intend to do where sites choose not to comply with the new requirements?

Just wondering how quickly they'll go down the route of blocking larger sites that are unlikely to comply (4Chan springs to mind as a possible example)

@raesene I don't recall if Ofcom has said anything specifically about this, other than general comments around proportionality of enforcement.

@neil This is annoying. As now I (only sometimes) read reddit without logging into an account, and this probably makes me need to login. But then, the whole OSB is annoying.
