@evacide You. You are what's good. You *act* to make the world a bit better, and people a bit safer. If you don't feel like a hero for all that you do, think of yourself as the butterfly's wings. You flap today, and there's a whirlwind being inherited by all those offenders. The butterfly never knows what it did; but that is not the same as having no impact.

(Though I am very surprised the lawyers kept you on that jury. I would have expect at least one side to use a peremptory.)

@evacide My human child is turning 7 years old in a week! When we brought our newborn home after 2 weeks in the NICU, she was 4 pounds; now she's 4 feet tall. She does ballet and skateboards and, as a rising 2nd grader, reads at a 7th-grade level. She created an animal hospital/shelter with Legos this week and even made a prosthetic leg for her Lego dragon. Best of all, she has a kind heart: she got her first bee sting today and has been saying "poor me AND poor bee."

This is pretty good @evacide. Moments like this with friends and/or family, and that brief blip that lets you filter out the manufactured chaos and noise of the world and focus on what brings you that feeling of "it doesn't get much better than this."
