I entirely agree that politics always matters everywhere, and that there are more towns and cities without Green candidates than there are ones with Green candidates.

It's fantastic to see the Greens leaning into this.
Running local body campaigns allows people to get experience as candidates and campaign teams, building up the table stakes to do it well in general elections. It's a way to actively recruit for diversity (in all senses of the word), without pushing people into platforms they're not ready for. It's also where the rubber meets the road in a lot of areas greens care about.
