@MishaVelthuis I remember mastodon.in, but it doesn't exist anymore. Or maybe I'm confused with another URL. Anyhow, people from India should do this themselves. It would be great if those servers are state, city or language based.

I guess there are many answers to that question. You're right of course that this should first and foremost be taken up by people in India, but I wonder what the *current* Fediverse can do to help...
@MishaVelthuis Another issue, is that Mastodon is only for 13% translated to #Hindi, 15% to #Tamil, 10% #Punjabi, and 5% to #Marathi. Just to name a few. Of course a lot of people can read English but using Mastodon in their mother tongue is a plus. #India has a large diaspora, so maybe those people can be of use?
