@ncoca There's a similar situation in South Africa. We have 11 official languages. Most of the newspapers, radio and TV in local languages are govt or pro-govt. Criticism of govt is almost exclusively in English and Afrikaans media.
@ncoca Does the right speak in the vernacular across the country or mostly in the Hindi belt?
@tokyo_0 Just from a journalism perspective, most mainstream media in vernacular or regional language is conservative or corporate - tied to vested interests. There's little to no independent or investigative reporting in most Indian languages, except for a little in Hindi.
