Was helping do a tax declaration for an German association this weekend with two natives who had done the declaration for this association multiple times already.

Awful, in so many ways. It's still not done...

Simplifying bureaucracy has been appropriated by (neo)liberals as a way to further capitalism, but we need to reclaim it for making (collective) human existence easier and more pleasurable.

Finance, bookkeeping, tax: possibly the least sexy areas of activism ever. Yet every legal collective has to do them. How many collectives never form because the barrier was too high? How much dynamism is smothered by the conservativism of compliance?

Big companies just outsource all of this: the smaller and less profitable, the more you're affected. (I.e. it's regressive)

@diegodlh @douginamug That's a UX improvement project raised by a civil UX designer in cooperation with the tax bureau since 2017, they use design thinking methodology and host many workshops with civil volunteers to help public servants learn how to work with the community and do modern design/development, which has massively improved the personal tax procedure.
