Until recently, the accepted wisdom in Mexico was that Mexico’s economy is simply too integrated with the US and Canada’s and too dependent on the US for it to be able to join the BRICS.
Fast forward to today, and President Sheinbaum has just announced that her government will be participating as an observer in the 17th annual meeting of the BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro on July 6-7.
