if you want better social media you must begin by building communism
by which I mean: it's not enough to make [xyz corpo platform but it's foss]; capitalism must be destroyed utterly at the root -- then "good" social media might begin to become a possibility
what we have now on the "fediverse" is a good spot to take a breath and relax a bit every now and then, in between bouts of doing work "in the real world" to bring capitalism to its knees and ultimately behead the monster that immiserates us all; the "fediverse" can't be the end goal of this project because it's not enough on its own and it's still full of reactionary, regressive thinking, and it capitulates too much to the patterns and structures of corpo socials, which are all deeply embedded in capitalism
