Fascists always go after union organizers; one reason is that unions are an effective force against fascism. In addition to a real an opportunity for a general strike, with the UAW pushing for the capability in 2028 (and so many people looking for some way to stand up), in the meantime if we pour money into strike funds at strategic labor centers for immigrant workers to be able to stay home and stay safer, the fascist edifices will crack much more.

i think Shawn Fain was a one-hit wonder. he's shown his ass, and he showed us he's willing to be a union scab too, saying tariffs are good.

General Strike 2028 is already a lot more than one person or one union:

And if more groups and people build their own organizing explicitly as a way of fighting fascism the combination with institutional labor could be very big.

@mlncn @burnitdown @fightfascism I am worried that 2028 is too far off. Not that we shouldn't do it, but that we should also be doing something right now.

@mlncn @fightfascism That is an awesome idea! Do you have suggestions for individual people to pinpoint where their money would be most useful towards the cause?

That is the hard part— connecting to local immigrant workers, and coordinating several ways to get $ to people directly, probably independent from but endorsed by groups credible to indicate they think the money will get where they think (such as workers centers and union locals).

@burnitdown think the IWW would be up for that?

The most strategic work to target i think would be meatpacking— meat as not essential to survival or health, but outsized in cultural impact.

@mlncn @hosford42 @fightfascism building a general strike is the entire point of the IWW. if there is a campaign to organise one, i don't know of it, but i'm not currently a member and that kind of info is very much members-only.
