While Mastodon and other #Fediverse applications also use the infinite scroll, the incentives are different for instance owners and users. The Fediverse is one of the places we hope we can guide people to as they escape the corporate data-silos!

True. For example some fediverse apps have experimented with wellness settings that allow turning off infinite scroll. I'm thinking particularly of @nolan's Pinafore web app and its successors (I think @enafore is currently the most active fork?).

I'd love to see this in all social web apps.
