Criminy, the difference between me working with one or two full sized monitors is a huge difference in productivity
It's really hard to get things done sometimes without having a full second monitor. The laptop screen really doesn't suffice.

@cwebber Or as the late great #TerryPrachett said, "People ask me why I have six monitors on my desk, and the answer is that I haven't got room for eight."
@cwebber Oh yes. I have two 32" 4k monitors on my desk. How anyone can do productive work on a little HD postage stamp I have no idea. You can never have too many pixels.
Actually this is a long term trend with me. At Uni in the 80s a terminal was 80x25 characters. I used to go into the lab late so I got two monitors, one for the editor and one for the program I was developing.
@cwebber at university, I was working on a small 11" laptop, doing webdev. What I did was firefox fullscreen and F12 would drop a terminal covering like 60% of the screen. I worked with tmux + vim. It was nice
@cwebber I run two large externals with the laptop as my slack/email display because I cannot work purely off a laptop monitor.
Even if I'm sitting in the living room, I have a small portable external I use on a table next to the chair because MUST HAVE ALL THE DISPLAYS
@cwebber a 3rd monitor was a smaller but noticeable improvement and a 4th was a distraction to me.
@cwebber I miss being able to do that. Since I screwed up my neck I haven't been able to use a second screen because I gotta keep better posture for long hours of computer now or I get hurt.
@cwebber the fact that they don't really make desktop monitors that are small AND good means I have this massive 4k monitor and I run everything windowed mode. I've got ideas for a custom window manager to better take advantage of the periphery, but I don't have time for a project like that and I wouldn't be able to use such a thing on my work computer anyway.

@mauve I'm very interested in that direction! Have you been doing this? If so, how's it been going for you?
@cwebber I've been using a less fancy version without the head tracking and I've found it better than laptop screens when I'm on the go. I'm gonna save up a bit to get this new model later this year though.

Zacchae claims no eye fatigue in using the XReal Airs with prescription inserts, though that doesn't seem to be the case generally for many people I've seen writing about it
I have enough eye fatigue as is, that's maybe the main thing holding me back
