I don't necessarily disagree, but I feel that this long argument deliberately omits to mention the context which motivated this decision.

Has the #Bitcoin network been experiencing a flood of transactions which (ab)use the blockchain as an immutable storage system for messages and data?

And if so, why wouldn't they rather do it with #Ethereum, which has lower per-byte fees and also lets them run small programs?
