I'm looking for a hybrid tablet/laptop experience I can use with GNU/Linux, ideally with Trisquel. I'd prefer to walk into a shop and buy it in Aotearoa, ideally in Waikato. But I'm willing to order online, from a known reliable supplier, if that's my best option.

New or quality used is fine. Beat up but working considered if its cheap. Any suggestions?

@strypey @trisquel look for the framework 12:. https://frame.work/ca/en/laptop12

The only fixable option in that category.

@martin I do not think they ship to Aotearoa

Also being based in the USA they will probably go out of business soon because of the tarries

Look to China, ironically

@martin I got that partly wrong

Looks like Framework are based in Taiwan. Close enough to China.....

They do not ship to Aotearoa though

If it's a tablet with a separate plugin/ bluetooth keyboard, I'd like to order both as a package deal. If it needs the WiFi adapter swapped out to run a Linux-libre kernel (no binary blobs), I'd love to order that in the bundle too. Or even better, preinstalled.

A possibility

I have a couple of "ruggedised" tablets that run linux and have USB femal slots for loading OS. They were for work where they needed hackable and rugged devices.

But they are outside sensible price range, I belive (~$1,500) but if you like I could give you the details

Ae! I've emailed them to ask about GNU/Linux support. Will be curious to see if they reply, and what they say.
