And yet, his silence is deafening.
The Elysée and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs have finally reacted in statements released to the press. Neither condemns Israel's illegal arrest in international waters, nor do they acknowledge its ongoing illegal blockade of humanitarian aid.
> “France wants to “facilitate the swift return” of the six French nationals aboard the humanitarian ship Madleen, which was attempting to reach Gaza and was intercepted overnight by Israeli authorities, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said on Monday. “Immediately after the ship was boarded, we requested to exercise our consular protection for them” and to “visit them” as soon as they arrive on Israeli territory, “in order to assess their situation and facilitate their swift return to France,” he said in a statement sent to the press.”
