> Mini Citizens Assemblies... ie: simply people meeting up IRL to talk

This sounds brilliant, and good on Hallum for somehow organising it while imprisoned! How can we support something like this happening in Aotearoa? Especially in the smaller cities and the regions, where it's even harder to connect with in-person political activity.

@strypey I'm in Kapiti - so I get the smaller cities conundrum.

Answer: I don't know.

Roger's idea is "just do it"... he's made a loose template for the way these meetings should go... and the idea is that you turn up, then split off into pairs, each organising more meetings. Exponential growth etc.

I'm not enough of a people-person to do this on my own. I'm more of a behind the scenes critter... which (for a recovering rock-guitarist) is a strange thing to be, but I've always had someone who is an accomplished networker as an accomplice.

Good point. Journalists mostly still think that this is new and unprecedented, and caused by the post-ChatGPT wave of chatbots. But it's been happening ever since FB, YT and Titter switched to using The Algorithms(TM) to determine what people see on their platforms.

(3/3)

The recommendation engines we habitually call "algorithms" have actually been *models*, not algorithms. So "AI" is just a continuation of the automated disinformation-as-usual that corporate platforms have been engaged in for almost 20 years.
