Do you run your own mastodon single user instance? Could you tell me a no-nonsense monthly dollar amount of how much it cost to run your instance the last 3 months?

I'd like to know real-world costs... If your response is "it's free for me!" or "I'm such an incredible person that it costs me $0" then it's not an useful answer.

Ballpark figures, or replies by DM are great. TIA!

@afreytes@mastodon.gamedev.place It's running in spare capacity on a small fanless PC that's acting as my home router. Storage is about 1GB at the moment.

I'm using #snac2, and it would probably run happily (but a bit slower) on a Raspberry Pi 3. So if you're talking of only running an instance on a single bit of hardware (which would be very wasteful) about £50 for the hardware (basic Pi + SD card) and much less than £1 a month to run it.

You could easily run a personal snac2 instance on the base package of any VPS provider, with capacity to spare for other stuff.
