Most recently, Chad has been working on a new project called Software Commons over the last six months, with the goal of balancing the user freedom prioritized by open source software with developer sustainability. @BPariseau Thanks for this! Great to hear the story and thinking behind the approach.

Delayed-open-source seems greatly preferable to open-core.

Wondering if @dk has opinions / written something about FSL already?

@douginamug @BPariseau mixed feelings, I think it makes sence as way to license the code behind hosted services, but not for critical software. eg, for Saleor I might consider it for payment apps, or even the web dashboard, but not for the commerce engine, since I woudn't want people out there using old versions of saleor because they don't want to use saleor.io, for many reasons, for one it would encourage bad security practices
