If I managed a hiring process it would involve an onsite visit, the candidate when arriving at the door would interact with a staged scenario involving a homeless person and a box of kittens with a "free to a good home" sign.
What to the interviewee would appear to be a casual side discussion about the homeless person and the kittens would actually be critical decision points for the interviewer.
