Unless they are napping, resting or checking out nesting sites, Swallows can be a challenge to capture - a beautiful challenge, well worth the number of blur shots.

Northern Rough-winged Swallows are "common" over much of the US and southern Canada during spring and summer. The seem to be most visible in our area in late spring (Apr -May) hunting insects low over open water.

The Nature Center is near the airport. It is not uncommon to meet birders who booked layovers in the spring just to see the Rough-wings here.
