I wish I could be back for lunar new year. In the past, no matter where I was I would always make the trek back home. Hopefully this will be the last one that I miss.
I don’t love that visiting during lunar new year also means a lot of my fave foods are not available (lunar new year is the only time some hawkers take time off), but there’s always delicious, non-Chinese foods to eat.
My mum sent a few boxes of my favorite pineapple tarts (from L.E Cafe on Mackenzie road), with a friend who was heading here. So I can at least have the right flavors of lunar new year.
Unsurprisingly, my friend told me when she got here that she’d lived in Singapore for 20 years and had never had such delicious pineapple tarts and now they’re the only ones she wants to eat!
