Using the publication output indicator of the Leiden Ranking, the NYT piece explores changes of top positions of universities from the US and China over time. While this indicator gives an impression of overall publication output of universities, it tells only a small part of the story of universities' unique profiles.

The #LeidenRanking was featured yesterday in the #NewYorkTimes.
Important to be aware that NYT looked only at the publication output indicator in the Leiden Ranking, not at any of the other indicators. Only very limited conclusions can be drawn from this!
