@ernie

Don't forget its trivial to make this your default search engine, in Firefox at least. I haven't tried anything else so far.

Add a new search engine in Edit -> Settings -> Search from the list of configured search engines, scroll down a ways to find it.

For the new search string use

https://www.google.com?adm=14&q=%s

Give your new de-enshittified search a name and shortcut too. Maybe call it something like adm=14. Pick your own though.

Now go back up to the top of the Search page where there is a drop down box for "default search engine". Unselect your current default search engine and select the new one you just created.

Now you can go back to google search in 2005!

This is how google search should have stayed. Just relevant, useful information which is well organised and presented. No ads, no blocked or boosted content in order to advance corporate/political/fascist goals, no enshittification and definitely no AI.

Vast amounts of resources are being saved by not forcing all that crap we don't want or need into search results. Therefore the simple, pure search this little trick enables is better for the planet too. Occam's Razor is correct once again.

Thank you, so, so much for discovering and publicising this.
