Final thoughts on this anime season:

Best in Season: May I Ask For One Final Thing? Absolute cinema this. I love Scarlet. I love Sanya-sama. I loved the two masochistic (albeit in very different ways) princes vying for Scarlet's affections. Solid 4.5/5 would watch again. Buying this on bluray when I can.

Worst in Season: GNOSIA. I can only imagine that James Beckett over at ANN must've been charmed by Terrenezza, or be a GNOSIA himself, to not tear this piece of trash to shreds like it so richly desserves. I will give GNOSIA credit for one thing though: its sheer stupidity caused me to stick out Mugen Gacha just to see which show was worse, but lo and behold Mugen Gacha actually got better. I'll give it half a star for the gender ambiguity of some characters, I guess.

Unexpected Dark Horse: Mugen Gacha, aka Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon. I absolutely hated episode 2 of this show, to the point where I nearly dropped it. But I decided hey, why not make it a game and see which is worse, GNOSIA or this? Cue surprise when Mugen Gacha turned into a fun, cathartic, unapologetic revenge fantasy that managed to have more heart than something like this desserves, and certainly more intelligence than GNOSIA. I mentioned before, I can respect a show that knows what it is and embraces it without pretense, and that is certainly true of Mugen Gacha. 3.5 stars.

The Cutest of Cutes: It's a tough call between Alma-Chan Wants to Be A Family and Reincarnator, but I have to give it to Alma-chan because I just happen to love autistic blue smols. Both shows were very therapeutic for me during the past couple months, which have been very stressful for me. Both get 3.5 stars.

"Chichi wa Eiyuu, Haha wa Seirei, Musume no Watashi wa Tenseisha": The second cutest-of-cutes. Crossover with Alma-chan when? 3.5 stars.

Shuumatsu Touring: It's like Girls Last Tour but not as good. Airi is cute as heck tho. 3 Stars.

A Manga-ka's Yuriful Workplace: I expected GAY. GAY was delivered. Satisfied. Solid 3.5 stars.

Towa no Yuugure: In the post-apocalypse, people will be polyamorous and pansexual, androids will be able to have sex, get drunk, and sometimes not even know they're androids, slaves will have barcodes on their butts, and a man will go on a quest to find his 200 year-old girlfriend. It was fun, I guess. Would I have kept it had there been more good shows this season? I dunno. 3/5.

More new anime thoughts: First and Second Impressions edition

Dad is a Hero, Mom is a Spirit, I'm a too-long title (aka Chichi wa Eiyuu, Haha wa Seirei, Musume no Watashi wa Tenseisha.; aka Reincarnated as the Daughter of the Legendary Hero and the Queen of Spirits ): Well, Ellen is cute enough, but the first episode doesn't have much of a hook. But I don't have much on my list this season so I guess this can stick around a while.

This Monster Wants to Eat Me: (PHRASING!) With how badly MC-chan wants to die I just can't help but think of the content warnings slapped on Call of the Night while this has none. Anyway: poor Miko-chan. Clearly the only solution here is a yuri polycule.

Towa no Yuugure: If I were to give this a light novel title, I'd call it "Frozen for 200 years, now I wander the post-apocalypse with a robot who looks like my past fiancee and wants to jump my bones". We learn a bit more about the world, and get introduced to the legalized and somewhat-regulated industry of slavery. MC-kun wants to "find out about" his finacee. Bro, it's been 200 years, you hoping she was or is a popsicle too? Oh, and there's more robots which look like her, only they're not so nice and don't want to jump his bones...as far as we know. It'd be wild if this turned into a robot harem I guess.

May I ask for one final thing?: Scarlet ALMOST goes a whole episode without punching a dude. Almost. And, things look to be ready to escalate fairly quickly. Nice.

Gnosia: Among Us, the Anime! So, one of five crewmembers is secretly a killer, and their options are self-destruct the ship or vote people off Survivor-style, putting the voted-off person into cold sleep. The ship's computer can detect the impostor Gnosia's presence but not which one it is. They can't just put everyone into cold sleep at once (reasons) and they can't put them to sleep one by one (the Gnosia would attack if it's alone with one other human). I think a decent show could be made out of the basic premise, in fact I'm sure that good shows HAVE been made on this premise, but I think this is not going to be one of them. I have zero confidence in the writing already. But, I have little else on my list this season, so I'll give it the usual three episodes I guess.

A Mangaka's Weirdly Wonderful Workplace: You could call this one "Bocchi the Mangaka". Bocchi--er, Futami, is a ball of anxiety given to delusions about her editor. Hilarity ensues.
