c105. Good progress.

The power grid is dropping down towards the base, and we've taken over the first pair of hamster wheels w/coal power. Gonna keep going, and soon, start automagically delivering coal.

The drecko ranch is just about framed in. Now we gotta do the nasty tedious liquid stacking it needs. Since I need the part around the mealwoods first, I'll do it in two phases.

c110. Okay, we got the power grid dropped all the way down to the printer level, and we got the drecko ranch in (it's an incremental build, and is operational even manually, as now. So, maybe 25 cycles until my first plastic.

Next a couple of small projects: 1) distribute that crazy mad o2 supply. 2) Get rad research up and running. 3) Locate and build the central supply depot.

After those, we should be ready to fill out the rest of the main base.

Okay, then. Fine. That's just fine. We're fine. Everything is fine here.

#1 priority: that power grid. Rationale: all the labor we're spending on power leaves few cycles for expansion/improvement.

#2 priority: finish the drecko ranch. Rationale: plastic is a wonderful thing, and reed fiber is needed for suits and for decor.

#3 priority: a real bathroom. Rationale: a little less labor, a small morale boost, and then we can lose all the po2 floating around.

Git 'er done!

So. It's c98. What would I *normally* have by c98?

1) Actual o2 prod + cooling + distribution -- I'm missing distribution.

2) A united power grid. I got nothin'.

3) Some plastic from an operating drecko farm. I got nothin'.

4) Stable food. That, at least, I got.

5) A couple of tons of steel. Well, I have a 500kg, but cuz I haven't cored any caustic biomes, almost no iron.

6) Stable water supply. Mine's, mmmm, wobbly and improvised, not permanent.

In the real base area, we've got 3 hatch ranches and a 5-breeder pair pacu farm, the food control area, as well as our research area. To the right, we have a really sloppy version of a starter base, with bathroom, great hall, cooking, and hospital

Right. Let's take stock.

I've started the power grid: the coalgens are up, tho not auto-supplied. I'm running the main trunk down to the left of that, WIP. Below that we have a tamed cool slush geyser w/infinistore, but also some dead space we may want to use later.

Right of the ladder, a quad-hydra. Cuz I was using it for power not o2, there's 250kg of cool o2 inside it. A project would be to start using it.

Below that is the three-story drecko ranch WIP.

c98. Tadaaaaa! Carnivore.

Man that was cutting it really close.

In retrospect, I made two mistakes. 1) Shoulda gone ahead and loaded 4 stables instead of just 3. 2) Should have used many more incubators instead of dropping eggs in the evolution chamber.

Oh well, next time.

So that's locavore, carnivore, and super-sustainable all done, plus a handful of the gimmes.

Time to stop and review my situation.

c94 and we've got super-sustainable! Excellent. That achievement really slows you down, because your dupes have to spend so much time on the hamster wheels.

I will continue for now on the drecko ranch, but will also figure out where to put power. Oh, and put a damned smart battery on those hydrogen generators, too.

Carnivore feels really tight right now. 15 cycles left, and I need to feed 10k kcal of bbq every cycle to get there. There's no easy way to tell if I'm generating that much bbq. Result: tension and micromanagement.

Super-sustainable is coming along nicely. We're about 80kj shy, so maybe 35-40 cycles left?

I will be *very* glad to put those two achievements behind me.

c85. As promised, baby's first metal refinery is up at the top. I originally was gonna use a loop, but I decided instead to run the ph2o through the refinery once, which will guarantee a temperature >0c, then go through a sieve to feed the quad hydra.

Directly below the o2 prod, we've blueprinted in a) the cooling line for the o2, whose outflow *also* sends water to feed the hydra, and b) the top of the drecko ranch.

c75: Up at the top of the base we now have 5 h2 generators running full time from the excess in the quad-hydra.

Also, I've cracked the second ice biome, and getting berry sludge

On the carnivore front, it's gonna be a close run thing. If I can deliver 9kg of bbq for the next 25 cycles, we're good. It seems like we'll make it.

So what's next? Other than bedtime, that is. Two things. Baby's first metal refinery, and the drecko ranch, probably in that order, actually.

Checked the numbers again on carnivore, btw, we should make it by c95. That'll be a huge relief. One thing I'll say, tho, once you beat carnivore, food will never ever be a problem again.

c65, aaaaaaand there's our answer to super-sustainable kids, or almost. That quad hydra is already making 3.2kg/s of o2 and 224g/s of h2. The righthand chamber still needs priming, but that won't take long, then we'll have 448 gs.

Now, this is self-powering, that's why there are four generators in there. If those were up all the time, it'd consume all the h2. But they never really will be, cuz the smart batteries.

We'll easily run 3-5 more generators off the excess.

Up top, the o2 rig is coming along. I'd guess 5-10 cycles before we can fire it up. I'm hoping we can generate 5-6k kj per cycle once that happens.

Note that you don't have to *use* all that, you just have to *produce* it. Once the thing is self-powering, we'll drain off the excess h2 and use it for generators that are *not* on a smart battery. They'll be the base of our power grid.

I'm also cracking the second ice biome, primarily to get wild sleet wheat.

c55. We beat locavore a couple of cycles back, so we can now start farming. Down in the base, we're starting on bristle berry farming, w/a target of berry sludge. 5 cycles to a mush-free lifestyle!

We have 17 hatches, and about a dozen eggs in the evolution chamber.

That means that carnivore is coming, too, tho it'll be the low c90s before it happens. Just need to keep an eye on it, nothing more.

In a normal run, we'd be paying a lot more attention to making our base righteous. The base down there is sloppy as hell, barely functional. We've plenty of algae, so why rush o2 prod and why build a *huge* quad-hydra o2 rig?

In an all-achievement run, carnivore, locavore, and super-sustainable are stark limitations. We need to get past them as quick as possible.

Yes, a quad-hydra will produce enough o2 for 34 dups. Our planned census is 20. It's way over-kill.

*But*. It will also produce enough h2 to self-power and *still* run 4 more h2 generators.

After 45 cycles, we've produced 12k kj. We have to produce 240k kj to beat supersustainable. At this rate, that's c900. I want me some hydrogen generators, and I want them badly.

This build will take 15-20 cycles, but it's worth it.

c45. My dupes are spending more and more time in po2, so I added a hospital. This required me to dig a spur into a caustic biome to get to balm lily. With luck, we can keep them healthy enough to keep working.

Up top, the cool slush system is fully enclosed. It's about 40 cycles to the next dormancy, which is great: we'll have all the cooling we can use by that time.

To the right of the ladder up there, wayyyy up top, we're starting to frame in a serious o2 rig.

c38. Borrrrrrring.

1) Low on fresh water, and will want some pools of ph2o to sieve for my research, and later for my o2 prod.

2) I want lots of o2 prod for power, so I need some gold to make that rig.

Therefore, 3) I'm cracking and coring slime biomes, both above the base and down on the lower right.

This will take a while. First breeding pair of pacu born. 8 hatches and counting.

As I have cycles, I want to dig over to the ice biome on the upper left: more food.

Food production is still quite low, and I've made more than a few mush bars to keep up with my 8 dups.

All we need to beat carnivore & locavore is get a few more dups and keep running the hatch & fish stables manually. (Around c45 we'll get mechatronics, which will help.)

So. Now what? Well, super-sustainable. We need h2, and lots of it. I propose to build two 2-submerged-electrolyzer rigs. That's way more o2 than we'll need until the endgame, but we need the h2.
